Three small buildings occupied the the block in the late XIXth century prior to or concurrent with the Tabernacle. The first was a 17’ x 22’ building to house a baptismal font to replace the open millrace on Second West as a location for baptisms.
The second building was a brick cottage to house the Tabernacle Block custodian and his family. The “new” Tabernacle was nearing completion at the time (1886).
Still standing today (2006) is a tiny brick building west of the Tabernacle which housed the furnace and boiler. The latter were completed and went into service by March 1893. For a few years, winter use of the Tabernacle required some endurance by today’s standards. Today it houses the heating plant for the Tabernacle.
